Concrete maturity has been put forward as a concept that deals with the joint effect of temperature and time during strength gain.

 

In this method, the temperature change during the concrete's gaining strength is converted into a numerical index with the help of the maturity function.

 

The maturity index provides an idea about the strength of concrete at an early age.

​

“Concretes obtained from the same mixture and at the same maturity have approximately the same strength regardless of the temperature-time combinations used to reach this maturity.”
