Concrete Curing in Cold Weather Conditions
Additive Usage Method

Using Additives that Increase Freeze Resistance and/or Set Accelerator, Hydration Temperature

The concept of frost resistance refers to the durability of fresh concrete against freezing (freezing of the water it contains). It should not be confused with the concept of frost resistance, which describes the durability of hardened concrete against freeze-thaw repetitions.

they are used in their concretes .

It is technologically easy and convenient to use antifreeze additives in concrete works in winter. 1.2 - 1.4 times according to steam curing and hot air heating method, 1.3 - 1.5 times according to electrical heating methodsit is more economical.

By using antifreeze additives in winter concrete the energy required for heating is saved, construction technology can be applied more flexible.

Antifreeze additives; It can also be used with thermos, steam cure or electrical heating methods. In this case, both the amount of antifreeze additives used and energy are saved.

Antifreeze additives work in two ways:

They lower the freezing temperature of the liquid phase of concrete. They are weak accelerators or weak retarders for the setting of cement.

They significantly increase the setting of cement and the strength of concrete and also have good antifreeze properties.

In addition to these two basic groups; Additives, which have weak antifreeze properties but accelerate the setting and strength of the cement, and increase the hydration temperature of the concrete significantly in the early stages, are also used in winter concrete.
